Stop guessing about your visitors
Running a site without analytics means making decisions blind. Google Analytics, now in its GA4 version, tells you how many people visit your Kenyan website, which pages they read, where they are (Nairobi, Mombasa or further afield), which devices they use and which marketing channels send the most visitors.
It is free, it is capable, and setup takes about 15 minutes.
Google Analytics setup in four steps
Step 1: Open an Analytics account
- Visit analytics.google.com
- Log in using your Google account
- Press Start Measuring
- Enter an account name, such as your business name
Step 2: Add a property
- Name the property, for example after your website
- Choose Kenya as the reporting time zone
- Choose Kenyan Shilling (KES) as the currency
Step 3: Copy your Measurement ID
Pick "Web" as the platform and type in your site's address. Google then shows you a Measurement ID, which begins with G-.
Step 4: Connect it to WordPress
The Site Kit by Google plugin links Analytics, Search Console and PageSpeed together in a single click. If you want more detailed reports, MonsterInsights is an alternative.
The first numbers worth watching
- How many people visit each day, week and month
- Visitors by country; if you sell locally, Kenya should lead by a long way
- Your most-read pages, which show what content people value
- Bounce rate, which tells you whether people leave straight away
