For Kenyans living in the UK

One account for a business here or back home

Plenty of Kenyans in the UK run something back home: a shop, a farm, rental units, a school or a family business that needs a website and email that work. Others run a business here and want hosting that costs little, renews without drama and is paid by card. Both end up with the same worry: a site that depends on someone remembering renewals across two countries.

We take that off your list. Every plan has a control panel with your own login, a backup every day, an SSL certificate that renews itself and mailboxes on your own domain. Invoices arrive by email; you pay them with a UK card, or anyone in Kenya pays them by M-Pesa to our Paybill with the invoice number.

One thing in your favour: our hosting server is in the United Kingdom, so UK visitors are served from inside the UK. Our team works from Nairobi, two or three hours ahead of you, and answers in English on live chat, email and tickets.

Included on every plan

  • An SSL certificate at no cost, renewed for you
  • NVMe SSD storage behind a LiteSpeed web server
  • The DirectAdmin panel, with WordPress in one click
  • Mailboxes at your own domain name
  • A backup every day, which you can restore without us
  • Your existing site moved across free
  • Uptime tested every minute and shown live on our status page

Where your site is physically hosted

Our hosting server is not in Kenya: it is in the United Kingdom, and it serves our Kenyan customers too. Help by live chat, email or ticket comes from our Nairobi team, on East Africa Time.

You will not find a made-up latency number here. Instead, our live status page tests our website, the hosting server, mail, the payment gateway and the domain registry once a minute, and keeps the honest record, bad days included.

Domains for the UK

As well as .com, .org and 200+ other extensions, these are the ones that matter most to Kenyans in the UK: .co.uk or .uk for a business here, and .co.ke for one at home. .co.uk, .uk and .co.ke register at checkout the moment the invoice is paid, the same as .com. Look at the renewal column before you decide, since some extensions cost more to renew than to register.

Extension Register Renew Transfer in
.co.uk KSh 1,000$7.69/yr KSh 1,000$7.69/yr KSh 1,000$7.69/yr Check
.uk KSh 1,000$7.69/yr KSh 1,000$7.69/yr KSh 1,000$7.69/yr Check
.co.ke KSh 1,200$9.23/yr KSh 1,700$13.08/yr KSh 1,700$13.08/yr Check

Anyone can register .uk and .co.uk, with no UK address needed; Nominet, the registry, may ask you to confirm your details later. Anyone can register a .co.ke, in Kenya or abroad, with no documents.

These figures come straight from our live catalogue, so the price shown is the price charged. Still undecided? Our guide on picking a domain name works just as well beyond Kenya's borders.

How to pay from the UK

Ways to pay

  • Visa or Mastercard on Paystack's secure checkout page. From the UK this is the usual way to pay, and you need nothing extra to use it. Because the charge is in Kenyan shillings, your bank may add a foreign transaction fee.
  • Billed in KSh. If dollars are easier to read, the currency switcher in the menu shows US dollar prices. Whatever you view, the charge is in Kenyan shillings, with your bank converting from pounds at its own rate.
  • Bank transfer, for yearly invoices or bigger projects. Ask us on live chat and we will send you the details.

What we cannot accept, so checkout holds no surprises

M-Pesa at our checkout means Safaricom M-Pesa in Kenya and nothing else. PayPal and Direct Debit are not available at checkout. Better that you read it here than find out halfway through paying.

No VAT is added to our prices. Should your accountant need the invoice laid out a certain way for local bookkeeping, tell us and we will issue it in that format.

Switching to SiteBoma from the UK

1

Share the details

Let us know who hosts you now, which domain you use and roughly how large the site is. Live chat gets the quickest reply.

2

We move a copy

Your files, databases and mailboxes come over to our server and are tested there, while the old site carries on running.

3

You review it

A preview link lets you inspect the new copy. Your visitors see no change until you approve it.

4

Switch the domain

Change the nameservers yourself, or let us do it when the domain is registered with us. Every paid plan includes the move free.

What Kenyans in the UK ask us

Yes. Every invoice has its own number. Anyone in Kenya can pay it by M-Pesa: Lipa na M-Pesa, Paybill 1393006, with the invoice number as the account number, and the invoice updates by itself within a minute or so.

Yes. KeNIC, the .ke registry, lets any company or individual register a .co.ke, in Kenya or abroad, and it needs no documents (only go.ke, ac.ke and sc.ke do). It registers at checkout once the invoice is paid, and the price is in the table above.

Yes, with a Visa or Mastercard on Paystack's checkout. The charge is in Kenyan shillings and your bank converts it from pounds, so it may add a foreign transaction fee. PayPal and Direct Debit are not available.

In the United Kingdom, so pages for UK visitors are served from inside the UK. Our team works in Nairobi. Our status page shows the live state of our website, the hosting server, mail and payments, checked every minute.

Our team works on Nairobi time, two or three hours ahead of the UK depending on the season, so UK mornings fall in our working day. Live chat, email and tickets are answered by people, and a ticket sent late in your evening is waiting for us when we start.

Yes. Our website design service builds sites for businesses here or in Kenya. If the family business has no site yet, we can build it and host it in one go.

Kenyans in other countries

One team and one set of plans cover each of these:

Kenyans in the USA 🇺🇸 Kenyans in Canada 🇨🇦 Kenyans in the UAE 🇦🇪 Kenya 🇰🇪

Ready when you are

Getting set up takes about ten minutes, and we move an existing site at no charge. Prefer to talk it through with someone first? Our live chat is run by people in Nairobi.
