How to install it
- Sign in to DirectAdmin.
- Locate Softaculous Apps Installer, which normally sits under "Advanced Features".
- Type "WordPress" into the search, then choose Install Now.
- Select your domain in the dropdown.
- For WordPress at the root of your site (our recommendation), leave "In Directory" blank. To put it at yourdomain.co.ke/blog, enter blog there.
- Complete the Site Name, Site Description, Admin Username, Admin Password and Admin Email fields.
- Press Install and wait about 30 seconds.
Once it is installed
Go to yourdomain.co.ke/wp-admin and sign in with the admin details you just chose.
Worth doing on day one
- Add the LiteSpeed Cache plugin, which comes included with our LiteSpeed servers and makes WordPress pages load much faster.
- Change your permalinks under Settings → Permalinks to "Post name", which suits SEO better than the default.
- Remove the default theme & plugins you have no use for.
- Choose a strong admin password and turn on 2FA with a security plugin such as Wordfence or iThemes Security.
