Point a domain from elsewhere at SiteBoma hosting

Registered your domain with a different provider? Here is how to switch its nameservers over to SiteBoma.

Bought your domain somewhere else, say GoDaddy, directly through KENIC or from another Kenyan host? Then its nameservers need changing so that they point to SiteBoma.

What to do

  1. Sign in to the control panel of the registrar that holds your domain today.
  2. Open the section called "Nameservers", "DNS Management" or "Custom Nameservers"; each registrar names it differently.
  3. Delete the nameservers listed there now.
  4. Enter ns1.siteboma.co.ke and ns2.siteboma.co.ke.
  5. Save your changes.

How soon will it work?

Expect DNS to propagate in roughly:

  • 15 minutes for a .co.ke, since KENIC propagates quickly
  • 1 to 4 hours for .com, .net and .org
  • as long as 24 hours for less common TLDs

Check the change

Look up your domain's NS records with our free DNS lookup tool. When the switch is complete, the results show ns1.siteboma.co.ke and ns2.siteboma.co.ke.
